I feel sorry for the person in this article. I'm an American citizen, my stepson came out of the closet to me after seeing how accepting I was of other gays/lesbians. He too is Armenian. The treatment of gays in Armenia is horrible, especially with young men being forced into the military. People who admit they are gay they are sent to psychiatric hospitals where their homosexuality is treated as a mental disorder. Drugs, electroshock therapy, are just two of the treatments common. The most common treatment is physical abuse and mental torture as "behavioral modification." I would like to wish this young man a lot of luck in his quest to leave his home country. The American Embassy in Armenia has standing orders to deny visas to young men in Armenia because they know, straight or gay, once they leave they do not return.
